From "A" to "Z"

Best wishes to Aim High who went from "A" to "Z" with his new name Zeke(sp?). He has been adopted!!!

He will be missed, but we are happy that he has a new home!!! Aparently there are lots of balls for him to play with at his new place.

Our hound, Dewey, misses his grasshopper...

Three dog noses!!!

Aim High is becoming more and more affectionate with us. Sometimes there are three dog noses when I open the door!

Speaking of counting... The other night I looked down and saw the funniest thing. What is wrong with this picture?

There are three dog beds.
They are full.
And there is still one dog on the floor!

I swear, we did not put Bunnie in that bed!

Coming home is always loads of fun. The second I walk through the door, the excitement begins. Of course, if it is not done properly, the escape-artist cat Brûlée must first be gathered up from her burst through the smallest of crack in the door. She does not go far, but it is enough to provide the rest of the gang time to get to the door no matter where they might have been and what they might have been doing.

Noses, noses, where is the third noses? One of the best parts of fostering is three dog noses at the front door. Aim High is getting the hang of the mugging of new arrivals, but he is more gentle than the Brindle Boys. There are still only two noses at the front door and Aim High waits until I am safely inside to join in the greetings. Still, he loves the hugs and kisses that he gets and his wagging tail is getting more pronounced.

We like to have "affection sessions" frequently. One of our greys, Dewey, is in training for "Best Kisser" at the 2009 Greyfest. When it is time to get hugs and kisses, Aim High gladly melts into the brindle fold and he is really getting the hang of it. The cutest thing is we have caught Aim High giving Dewey kisses more than once during the sessions. Kisses for everyone!

Report card:

Aim High gets an A++ in potty training (where is that wood that I need to knock on?).
We need to be practicing stairs, but the basement is still a construction zone so we have not been very good about it.
He will not take chewy snacks from our hands yet - they are still new.
Hardwood floors are not a problem, but he prefers to hang out on carpet.
Sometimes he is a bit unsure and seems to prefer quiet - having the Brindle Boys around seems to help with his confidence. We are working on some basic obedience and that will be a good thing to continue with him.
Squeakie Balls are still #1, but he is seeing the value of fluffy toys.
Overall, Aim High is doing WONDERFULLY!

Any luck with better name than "Aim High" for this boy? Give the folks in placement a call when you are ready to welcome him into your home and start calling this wonderful boy by his new name!

Today was a Thunder Test

There were some storms that rolled in this afternoon and today was a Thunder Test for Aim High. And he mostly passed. He did bark at the rolling rumbles - so we know he has a voice!

Aim High is a wonderful house guest and is passing the potty training with flying colors! He enjoys hanging out with our two Brindle Boys and has a very healthy respect for the cats. The Brindle Boys are doing their best to teach him only good habits. So far he has not picked up any of their not so good habits.

I love this picture, it looks like he is bowing to an alien (those are Dewey's wiskers).

"Aim High" is hard to say, so he needs a new name from his new owners - are you going to be the one to pick his new name?

Leaving the kennel behind and Aiming High!

Today was the the day that Aim High entered the world of LAK: Life After Kennels!

We picked him up at the LCAH Kennel this morning and brought him to his foster home in Woodstock. While we were at the kennel, Van took him for a quick exercise in the run. Wow, this boy is a ball dog!!!

Aim High is a beautiful, tall, dark, sweet, leaning, brindle boy with beautiful eyes and the longest needle-nose grin I have seen in quite a while.

Aim High rides really well in the car. Though he had to get a lift into the Element (one of the new things we will be practicing), and when we arrived, he jumped out eagerly.

He has done a great job acclimating to the home life. He had a lot of first encounters today: mirrors (very scary, but getting better already), house cats (all good there), stairs (another thing we will be practicing), dog beds (still has not graduated to the cushy kind), naps (we all needed one today), toys (squeekie balls win the prize), "kennel up" (did great - we feed fosters in the kennel and kennel them when we are not home), and TREATS (he was reluctant at first, but check out the video of how he did)

He was a sweet dog that I walked today. He was calm. He was reluctant to go back into his cage, but besides that he behaved. He needs a home.

Don't you think my stripes are lovely? I thought you might like to view what both sides of me look like.
